Association of American Railroads' Policy and Economics Department recently released the 2003 edition of "Railroad Equipment Report," which provides rail-car and locomotive data from U.S., Canadian and Mexican railroads and fleet owners.

The report includes details on rail-car fleets in each nation, such as car totals, and average and aggregate capacity divided into car-type and ownership categories.

The edition also includes locomotive-fleet statistics (size and horsepower) from North American Class Is, as well as the total of new and rebuilt locomotives installed by U.S. Class Is.

AAR is distributing the report to the general public for $60 and AAR members for $30. Copies can be ordered from AAR's Web site at www.aar.org or by mail to Association of American Railroads, Department 6015, Washington, D.C. 20042-6015.
