Last month, Wick Moorman assumed Norfolk Southern Corp.’s top office as president and chief executive officer. He’s expected to become the Class I’s chairman after David Goode retires at January’s end. Next year, Moorman’s going to chair the Association of American Railroads’ (AAR) board, as well. Last week, the AAR announced it elected Moorman chairman for 2006.

Moorman will succeed Michael Ward, who serves as chairman and CEO of CSX Corp., and president of CSX Transportation.

Meanwhile, the AAR elected several committee chairmen. The Safety and Operations Management Committee appointed Neal Foot chairman for the 2006-2007 term. Canadian Pacific Railway’s senior vice president of operations, Foot succeeds BNSF Railway Co. Executive VP and Chief Operations Officer Carl Ice.

The Network Efficiency Management Committee named Clarence Gooden chairman for 2006. CSXT’s EVP and chief commercial officer, Gooden succeeds Union Pacific Railroad EVP of Marketing and Sales Jack Koralseki.

Finally, the Policy and Advocacy Management Committee retained NS EVP of Law and Corporate Relations Jim Hixon as chairman for 2006.
