Association of American Railroads' (AAR) Policy and Economics Department recently released the 2002 edition of Railroad Facts, a pocket-size reference guide containing mostly Class I statistics compiled from 2001 and selected prior years — as far back as 1929.


The guide contains more than 80 pages of information on finance, traffic, operations, plant and equipment, employment and compensation, fuel consumption and cost, and loss and damage, as well as a profile of each North American Class I and Amtrak.


AAR members can purchase a copy of Railroad Facts for $5. Non-members can buy a copy for $15, two to 10 copies for $12 each, or more than 10 copies for $10 each.
