Association of American Railroads Nov. 19 named Dennis Delk executive director of railroad security.
Since 1998, Delk has served as director of mechanical inspection for AAR subsidiary Transportation Technology Center Inc.
He joined AAR in 1989, heading mechanical inspectors and hazardous materials field forces since 1994. Delk, a retired Air Force Reserve captain, entered the railroad industry in 1978 with Southern Railway.
"With our changed world, security has taken on added importance in the railroad industry," said AAR President and Chief Executive Officer Edward Hamberger in a prepared statement. "Under these circumstances, we felt it was imperative that we have someone here at AAR who could work full time on security issues."
