Association of American Railroads Sept. 14 announced that the 23rd annual edition of Analysis of Class I Railroads now is available from AAR's policy and economics department.

The analysis includes comprehensive 2000 data on each Class I that operates in the United States, such as average cents per ton-mile of freight originated, average tons of freight moved and total dollars spent on diesel.

The current edition also includes more than 750 financial and operating statistics plus information divided by eastern and western districts, and the United States as a whole. Information categories include physical characteristics, operations, employment, fuel consumption, net worth and investment bases, revenues, expenses, income, rankings, and plant and equipment.

The general public may purchase copies of the analysis, including a diskette version, for $250 — AAR members, $100 — plus a $5 handling charge per order. Contact AAR by phone at 202-639-2102; fax, 202-639-2558; mail, Department 6015, Washington, D.C., 20042-6015; or visit its Web site at www.aar.org.
