Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley recently appointed Association of American Railroads (AAR) Assistant Vice President of Government Affairs Jennifer Macdonald a freight-rail industry representative for a blue ribbon commission on transportation funding.

The commission — which includes 22 other business, transportation, labor and environmental leaders — will examine alternative funding mechanisms for the state’s transportation trust fund.

Macdonald has served the AAR the past nine years. She previously was the chief policy and legislative advisor for Arizona’s Department of Transportation, district director for Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) and special projects advisor for Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.).

“Jennifer has deep knowledge and expertise in transportation legislation and funding, and will well represent the railroad industry perspective on the commission,” said AAR President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Hamberger in a prepared statement.
