Enterprise du Métro d’Alger recently awarded a $284.3 million contract to an ALSTOM Transport-led consortium to supply the majority of the infrastructure, materials and equipment for the Algerian capital’s first tramway line.
ALSTOM will provide rolling stock, tracks, a power supply system, signaling system and control equipment, traction electrification, a workshop and part of the project's civil works.
The 10-mile, 30-station line will link the city center to the eastern part of the capital. The first trainsets are scheduled to enter revenue service 30 months after the project begins.
