ALSTOM Transport recently obtained a $173.4 million contract to provide another 21 CORADIA DUPLEX™ trainsets to France’s Société Nationale de Chamins de Fer (SNCF). ALSTOM will supply seven four-car and 14 three-car trainsets.

The order is part of SNCF’s long-term program to renew its 629-car regional express train fleet. Since launching the program in 2000, SNCF has ordered 487 passenger cars from ALSTOM, bringing the total contract value to $934.2 million.

ALSTOM also recently obtained a $22.7 million contract to supply four CORADIA regional trains to Italy’s Ferrovia Centrale Umbra. The three-car, 219-passenger capacity trains can reach speeds up to 100 mph. The cars are scheduled to go into service in 2008 on the Terni-Perugia-San Sepolcro line.
