APTA adopts racial equity action plan

The American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) board recently approved a racial equity action plan, which outlines how the association can make a transformational impact on racial equity and best support members in their efforts.

The plan is a product of the Diversity and Inclusion Council following a months-long effort by its Racial Equity Working Group, according to an APTA statement.

It includes guidance for:

• measuring and recognizing progress on racial equity in the transit industry;
• providing educational programming, technical support, and resources;
• creating more mentorship, sponsorship, and engagement opportunities;
• being a more influential advocate for equity and transit; and
• implementing results-oriented partnerships
