The Federal Transit Administration recently awarded a $1.9 million grant to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to develop new industry standards.
The administration has provided more than $3 million for public transit standards development during the past three years. APTA is developing standards for emergency vehicle features, transit roadway worker protection, vehicle procurement, accessibility, urban design, information technology and multimodal performance.
“The standards that will improve the efficiency, safety, productivity, accessibility and quality of transit systems across the country,” said APTA President William Millar in a prepared statement.
