ARRC to solicit public input on capital improvements

The Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) will solicit public comments on the railroad's proposed capital improvement projects for 2011 at a public meeting in Fairbanks on Jan. 25.
Project managers will explain Fairbanks-area projects in various stages, from conceptual planning, to engineering and construction. Projects to be discussed will include: the northern rail extension from North Pole to Delta Junction; Fairbanks Depot second track; freight intermodal improvements and area rail line relocation; North Pole Road crossing reduction; Nenana rail line relocation; bridge and culvert repair and replacement; Healy Canyon safety and reliability improvements; positive train control; and track rehabilitation and embankment protection.
