On May 6, American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) announced winners of its eighth annual Marketing Awards, which recognize regional and short line sales initiatives that attract business and produce revenue.
Out of 16 submissions, ASLRRA chose the following winners: Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad Co. (owned by North Shore Railroad Co.); Toledo, Peoria & Western Railway Corp. (owned by RailAmerica Inc.); and Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co.
"Competing for business, and trying to discover ways to be more productive and have that special 'edge' over competition is becoming more difficult, requiring more sensitivity to customers needs than ever before," said ASLRRA officials in the association's bi-weekly newsletter. "All of this year's submissions demonstrated that imagination, intelligence and pure determination are the three major ingredients to putting together a business plan that will profit for the years ahead."
