American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) plans to participate in Railroad Day on the Hill Feb. 26.
The association will hold a breakfast orientation at the J. W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., after which short-line, Class I, and rail-supply and contracting officials will be able to meet Congressmen alone or in groups.
ASLRRA officials plan to spend the day focusing on the reauthorization of Transportation Equity Act of the 21st Century.
"The new law will govern all surface transportation funding for the next five years, and if we are to succeed in securing federal infrastructure funding, we must be active and aggressive participants in that reauthorization process," association officials said in ASLRRA's bi-monthly newsletter released Dec. 16.
