The state of Alabama recently awarded a $300,000 Community Block Development Grant to Steel Dust Recycling to help fund the construction of a rail spur at the company’s new $35 million plant near Millport.
Located in the Lamar County Industrial Park, the plant will process more than 110,000 tons of steel dust annually to reclaim zinc and other metals from steel particles.
The spur will connect the plant to a main rail line. The Luxapalila Valley Railroad Co. provides service in nearby Millport.
