Alaska Railroad implements security awareness program

Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) and the Transportation Security Administration are launching TrackWatch, a public awareness and education campaign designed to improve safety and security.

Targeted toward passengers, employees and residents, TrackWatch encourages people to report suspicious activity.

"We’re asking [them] to be part of the eyes and ears of the railroad," said ARRC President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Gamble in a prepared statement.

ARRC is sending residents a magnet featuring a toll-free number for the railroad’s police and security department and installing cards on passenger cars outlining instructions for riders to report suspicious behavior or an emergency.
