The Federal Transit Administration recently awarded a $1.9 million grant Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) for a new intermodal facility in Fairbanks.

ARRC is building a state-of-the-art train depot, bus parking area and transfer area so passengers can make connections between trains, buses, taxis and automobiles.

Expected to open in mid-May and be fully completed in July, the facility will serve passengers arriving from and departing to Denali National Park & Preserve, Talkeetna, Wasilla and Anchorage.
