Tomorrow, Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) will host an open house in Anchorage to review the railroad’s current and upcoming capital improvement projects.

Project managers will describe work to be done between Seward and Fairbanks, including the Whistle Noise Reduction Program, operations center and rail capacity improvements planned in Anchorage; Anchorage-to-Wasilla track realignment and improvements; a Ship Creek intermodal facility and pedestrian amenities; North Ship Creek yard expansion; track integrity system demonstration; and new collision avoidance system.

The projects are being funded by the Federal Transit and Railroad administrations.

ARRC also plans to hold open houses in Fairbanks and Wasilla later this month, and one in Seward next month.
