advertisement

This month, the Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) will host several open houses throughout the state to review capital improvement projects proposed for 2006. Project managers will be on hand to describe the projects and answer questions.

Proposed projects include:

• an 80-mile Northern line extension between Eielson Air Force Base and Fort Greely;

• a 19-mile Eielson Branch realignment from the Fairbanks depot through Fort Wainwright to just east of North Pole;

• a downtown Nenena rail realignment;

• safety improvements between Denali Park Station and Healy; and

• a system-wide collision avoidance system to accommodate communication-based train control.
