Alaska Railroad to review design plans for Ship Creek transportation center

advertisement

Next week, Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) will hold an open house to review design options for the North “C” Street crossing that will be reconfigured as part of the Ship Creek Intermodal Transportation Center project. The number of tracks crossing the street will increase from one to five to accommodate more trains heading toward the center.

ARRC officials also will provide an overall design update with details on the depot renovation and lounge.

The $60 million intermodal center will be completed in three phases. Later this year, ARRC will begin relocating utilities and constructing two additional tracks. Phase 2 includes constructing a service building and rehabilitating the depot; the final phase includes building a new departure lounge over the tracks and a pedestrian sky bridge.
