Alcatel completes initial design of London Underground signal system
advertisement
Last week, Alcatel Transport Automation Solutions demonstrated a transmission-based automatic train-control system it’s providing to Tube Lines, which maintains track, trains, signals and stations on London Underground’s Jubilee and Northern lines. The demonstration completes an initial design phase.
Alcatel is installing its SelTrac® S40 on the two lines. The signaling system is expected to be fully implemented on the Jubilee Line by 2009 and on the Northern line by 2011. New equipment will be installed and tested in sections before the old signaling system is disabled.
The new signaling system is part of Tube Lines’ $1.8 billion program to upgrade the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.
