Alcatel recently obtained a $12.9 million contract from the Shanghai, China, government to design, install, integrate, test and maintain a communications solution for Shanghai’s new No. 9 metro line.
Scheduled to be complete in 2009, the 19-mile, 12-station line will run between SongJiang and YiShan Road.
Alcatel will install an optical transport network based on its Optical Multi-Service Node equipment and an access network. The communications system will feature administrative and operational telephony services, closed-circuit televisions, a centralized display system, office automation, optical fiber and copper cable, repeater and leaky cables, police and fire-protection radio systems, power supply and a public-address system.
