Alstom and Colubris Networks recently partnered to provide wireless networks and services onboard trains. Alstom will integrate Colubris’ multi-service access point, controller and client bridge products into its IP networking platform.
The wireless network feature is targeted at various applications, such as providing passengers Internet access, onboard system networking and mobile ticketing access.
In January, Alstom installed more than 200 Colubris-powered access points on 26 Pendolino trains for Italy’s Trenitalia and Cisalpino railways.
