Mexico City’s Sistema de Transporte Colectivo recently awarded a $74.4 million contract to Alstom Transport to upgrade propulsion systems for 25 train sets operating on the city’s Metro. Alstom also will provide maintenance services for 10 years.
The supplier will replace the existing propulsion systems with lightweight, computer-based propulsion units designed to reduce the fleet’s energy consumption and maintenance costs. The upgraded trains will be delivered between August 2007 and February 2008.
