Amsted Rail’s IONX telematics technology unit recently acquired the rail monitoring operation of RFTrax, a wholly owned Fairfield Industries Inc. subsidiary.
The acquisition of RFTrax’s rail monitoring operation and Asset Management Platform complements the IONX Edge™ satellite and satellite/cellular (dual-mode) asset monitoring product line by providing a cellular-only solution, Amsted Rail officials said in a prepared statement.
Amsted Rail plans to integrate RFTrax’s systems into IONX's product line. The integration will position IONX as one of the only asset tracking and monitoring companies to offer a wide range of communication devices and sensors specifically designed for the harsh rail environment, according to Amsted Rail.
