Amtrak, GrandLuxe link up to provide 'luxury' service

Amtrak recently entered into an alliance with GrandLuxe Rail Journeys to provide a service the partners say represents a return to "the golden age of luxury travel."

Starting in November and continuing through the upcoming holiday season, Amtrak will offer GrandLuxe Limited service — a separate, private, seven-car luxury train attached to several regularly scheduled Amtrak trains — on three of its most popular long-distance runs: between Chicago and L.A.; Chicago and the San Francisco area; and Washington, D.C., and Miami.

The GrandLuxe train will offer five-course-meal dining, lounge and sleeping cars appointed with vintage furnishings, and personal butler service.
