Amtrak, BNSF Railway Co., CSX and Union Pacific Railroad this week were named to the 2023 “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion” list released by the Disability Equality Index (DEI).

The list is a comprehensive benchmarking tool to measure disability workplace inclusion among corporate peers, DEI officials said in a press release. A total of 485 corporations across 30 industries participated in the list, which debuts a new framework to illustrate the lifecycle of disability inclusive practices and their rates of adoption, they added.

The report found that 93% of evaluated companies encourage employees with disabilities to self-identify; 72% market directly to the disability community by depicting people with disabilities in marketing materials; and 64% report having a requirement to make their digital products accessible and usable for people with disabilities.

Participating companies are scored on a scale of zero to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as a “best place to work.” All four railroads scored 100.
