On Aug. 5, Amtrak and Transportation Communications International Union (TCU) reached a tentative agreement extending from Jan. 1, 2000 through Dec. 31, 2004, and affecting about 5,000 ticket and reservations agents, baggage handlers and clerical workers. Contract details weren’t disclosed.
If ratified by members, the agreement would not be subject to renegotiation until Nov. 1, 2004.
TCU is one of 13 labor organizations and joint councils representing Amtrak employees. The TCU contract is one of 24 Amtrak currently is negotiating.
