Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Amtrak recently appointed two executives to vice president posts.
The national intercity passenger railroad named Anne Witt VP of strategic partnerships and business development. She will head the newly formed department, which will focus on Amtrak’s growth strategy, and seek opportunities to increase ridership and revenue. Amtrak’s existing contract and business development, corridor project planning, real estate development, and host railroad contract administration groups will be combined into the new department.
Witt rejoins Amtrak after serving as director of the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles. She previously held VP posts in several Amtrak departments, including service standards, service operations, reservations, sales and customer relations, customer and corporate communications, and corporate management.
Amtrak also named Eleanor Acheson VP, general counsel and corporate secretary. With more than 30 years’ experience in the legal profession, she most recently served as director of public policy and government affairs for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Between 1993 and 2001, she was assistant attorney general of the U.S. Department of Justice.
