Yesterday, a power outage on Amtrak’s system along the Northeast Corridor stranded dozens of Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and Maryland Commuter Rail (MARC) trains — and thousands of commuters — for about three hours between Washington, D.C., and New York City.

Amtrak officials are investigating the outage, which halted 28 SEPTA, 24 NJ Transit, eight MARC and numerous Amtrak trains along the corridor. The railroads expect to resume normal operations today.
