Amtrak to adjust discount on monthly Northeast Corridor passes

Next month, Amtrak will implement the second phase of a fare adjustment by further reducing discounts on Northeast Corridor monthly passes.

On Feb. 16, the Smart Pass discount will drop from 60 percent to 50 percent to help cover rising expenses, including fuel costs.

In October, Amtrak reduced the Smart Pass discount from 70 percent to 60 percent, and increased fares between 5 percent and 7 percent.
