Amtrak to restore a portion of Sunset Limited service early next month
advertisement
On Nov. 4, MAmtrak will resume Sunset Limited service between San Antonio, Texas, and New Orleans for the first time in more than two months. The service has been suspended since Aug. 27 because of damage to Union Pacific Railroad’s and BNSF Railway Co.’s infrastructure caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The Sunset Limited typically operates three days a week between Los Angeles and Orlando, Fla., passing through San Antonio, Houston and New Orleans. Long-distance service east of New Orleans via Biloxi and Mobile, Ala., will not resume until next year because of storm damage to CSX Transportation’s track, signals and bridges.
