Amtrak’s record-setting ridership continues. The national intercity passenger railroad’s Cascades service moved 623,000 passengers during fiscal-year 2005, topping the previous record of 597,161 passengers — set in FY2004 — by 4.4 percent.

The 466-mile Cascades corridor serves Vancouver, British Columbia; Bellingham, Everett, Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia-Lacey, Wash.; and Portland, Salem, Albany and Eugene-Springfield, Ore.

Amtrak provides the service in partnership with the states of Washington and Oregon.
