And the Tranny goes to: Transportation marketing association presents annual awards

Last week, the Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) announced recipients of the 2005 "Tranny" Awards, which were handed out May 3 at the association’s annual conference in Naples, Fla. Introduced more than 50 years ago, Trannys recognize freight and passenger transportation companies’ efforts to develop creative marketing and communications programs.

Of more than 200 entries submitted by 57 companies, TMCA awarded 19 awards of excellence and 83 awards of merit in 10 categories.

By category, TMCA presented the following Trannys:
• Integrated Communications: awards of excellence to DHL Express, GO Transit, New Jersey Transit, Pinellas Suncoast Transit, Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) and Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met), and awards of merit to Amtra (two), Con-Way Transportation, Metro-Los Angeles, Nashville Metropolitan Transit, PBB Global Logistics, Perry Banks Kemp and Pinellas Suncoast Transit;

• Single Advertisement: award of excellence to LM&O Advertising, and awards of merit to Amtrak, BSY Associates Inc., Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Freightliner L.L.C., Gabriel Technologies L.L.C., Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), PBB Global Logistics, Perry Banks Kemp and Tri-Met;

• Advertising Campaign: awards of excellence to Amtrak and RTD, and awards of merit to Freightliner, GO Transit, Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA), Old Dominion Freight Lines, Port Everglades and Schneider National Inc.;

• Direct Marketing: award of excellence to VantagePoint, and awards of merit to Amtrak, Con-Way Transportation, LM&O Advertising, PBB Global Logistics, Pinellas Suncoast Transit, Yellow Roadway Corp. and VantagePoint (two);

• Communications Collateral: awards of excellence to LM&O Advertising and PBB Global Logistics, and awards of merit to Amtrak, CTA, Freightliner, MTA, McLeod Software, LA MTA, NJ Transit, Old Dominion Freight Lines, Pinellas Suncoast Transit, Port of New Orleans, Tri-Met, XTRA Lease and RTD (two);

• Publications category: awards of excellence to NJ Transit and Sherman Communications (two), and awards of merit to MTA (two), Averitt Express, Freightliner, Norfolk Southern Corp., PBB Global Logistics, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Port Freeport, RTD, TNT Logistics and Tri-Met;

• New Media: awards of excellence to CTA and Riverside Transit Agency, and awards of merit to Amtrak (two), AIMS Logistics, Crowley Maritime Corp., FMI International, MTA, McLeod Software and Perry Banks Kemp;

• Audio Visual: award of excellence to Roadway Express Inc., and awards of merit to CTA (two), BSY Associates, Gabriel Technologies, NJ Transit, Pinellas Suncoast Transit and Roadway Express;

• Special Events: award of excellence to FedEx Express, and awards of merit to Amtrak, the city of Tempe, McLeod Software, MindShare Strategies Inc., MTA New York City Transit, PBB Global Logistics, Port Manatee, Tri-Met, and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority; and

• Media Relations: an award of merit to TNT Logistics.
