The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) recently awarded a $32.8 million contract to Ansaldobreda Inc. to rebuild the agency’s fleet of 27 light-rail vehicles.
The vehicles will feature new communications and control systems, including an electronic passenger information and counting system, and new propulsion-control logic.
In fall, Ansaldobreda will begin restoring the cars four at a time. All cars are scheduled to be rehabilitated by 2010.
