Arkansas & Missouri Railroad Co. (A&M) Aug. 26 announced that its shareholders overwhelming approved the election of Reilly McCarren as chairman, succeeding the 139-mile short line's founder and majority owner Anthony Hannold, who plans to remain on the board.
McCarren, who most recently served Wisconsin Central Ltd. as president and chief executive officer until Canadian National Railway Co. acquired the regional in October 2001, plans eventually to assume majority ownership of the short line.
Meanwhile, A&M also named Brent McCready president to succeed Larry Bouchet, who resigned in early June.
McCready, who most recently served as interim president and senior vice president, helped A&M diversify from a branch-line railroad to a provider of rail-based transportation services, including transloading, warehousing, local trucking, railcar leasing and car repair.
