Short lines in the Razorback State recently formed the Local Railroads of Arkansas (LRA) to promote a "state legislative and regulatory framework that supports an efficient rail system," according to the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association's latest newsletter.

LRA named Brent Stevenson executive director. The association also elected the following officers: Alan Wagoner, general manager of the Little Rock & Western Railway L.P., president; J. D. Ventrcek, vice president and GM of the DeQueen & Eastern Railroad Co., vice president; and Brent McCready, president of the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad Co., secretary-treasurer.
