Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently unveiled a new poster as part of its anti-terrorism campaign. Modeled after London Underground signs, the poster features a pair of eyes and the words "bomb detectors."
"This new campaign is designed to remind riders that we welcome and encourage their assistance," said BART General Manager Tom Margro in a prepared statement.
The poster is the third sign in BART’s "Eyes & Ears" anti-terrorism campaign, which the agency launched in August 2002 and updated following the March 2004 Madrid, Spain, transit bombings to encourage passengers to look out for unattended bags.
BART also is publishing a new Transitwatch brochure describing suspicious behavior or items and the steps passengers should take if they encounter a potential threatening situation.
