advertisement
BC Rail Ltd. tentatively plans within two years to acquire a fleet of box cars dedicated to moving oriented strand board (OSB), a form of lumber, from a new OSB plant in Fort St. John, British Columbia.
The $34 million capital expenditure is part of British Columbia Railway Co.'s three-year service plan (2002-2004) released Feb. 19.
BC Rail won't formally commit to the expenditure until the OSB plant owners set a construction start date and the 1,446-mile regional obtains a freight transportation contract.
