On July 10, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers' Advisory Board approved a resolution forming the framework for a proposed merger with International Brotherhood of Teamsters.


If approved by BLE members, the union would be renamed Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, and become a division of newly created U.S. and Canadian rail conferences within the Teamsters.


BLE officials plan to present the merger proposal to union members as soon as possible.
