Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers will represent Indiana Southern Railroad Inc.'s train and engine-service employees, according to the results of an election held Sept. 20 at National Mediation Board (13 out of 15 eligible voters chose BLE).


The 180-mile short line is the third RailAmerica Inc.-owned property recently organized by BLE.


The union plans to pursue representation elections on regionals and short lines, and currently is trying to organize train and engine-service employees on Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad Corp.'s newly formed Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad Corp., said BLE International President Don Hahs in a recent Progressive Railroading interview.
