Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and 139-mile Arkansas and Missouri Railroad Co. (A&M) April 1 announced plans to launch a joint sales and industrial-development campaign in northwest Arkansas April 16-18.
The short line plans April 16 to provide BNSF officials a tour of Van Buren/Fort Smith, Ark., to better familiarize the Class I's officials with the area.
Then, 12 BNSF marketing and industrial-development personnel, and A&M officials April 17 and 18 would meet mutual and potential new customers in the greater Fayetteville/Bentonville, Ark., corridor, and discuss ways to bring more-efficient rail service to the area, as well as investigate potential industrial-development sites.
"We're ushering in a unique, creative partnering development in our industry," said A&M President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Bouchet in a prepared statement.
