Last week, Business Finance magazine named BNSF Railway Co. and Kansas City Southern winners of 2007 Vision Awards, which recognize excellence in business performance management (BPM).
Awards are given in three categories based on annual revenue. BNSF won the top award in the more than $5 billion category and KCS took top honors in the $510 million to $5 billion category.
BPM includes strategic planning, business planning and budgeting, performance measurement, and business and financial reporting. The railroads successfully used BPM to measure, monitor and optimize key business drivers, and established organizational cultures that support and reinforce BPM best practices, Business Finance said.
