So far this year, BNSF Railway Co. has created 23 new intermodal services and improved transit times in 45 lanes in response to customer feedback.
The new services, which branch out to several new markets, include premium container moves between Houston and Chicago; Kansas City, Kan., and Phoenix; Atlanta and Phoenix; and St. Louis and Stockton, Calif. BNSF also is providing expedited container service between Chicago and Denver and San Bernardino, Calif.; between Los Angeles and Atlanta, Chicago and Memphis, Tenn.; and between K.C. and San Bernardino. In addition, the railroad is offering expedited trailer service between L.A. and Atlanta, Albuquerque, N.M., and Orlando, Fla.
The new services, “historic” performance levels (including velocity) and improved operational processes have helped the Class I boost on-time performance to more than 94 percent, BNSF officials said in a statement issued last week.
