BNSF creates Web site to fuel diesel-conservation program

To help reach its goal of improving fuel efficiency 4.1 percent this year compared with 2002, Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently launched a Web site to provide employees information and updates on diesel-conservation efforts.
Located at http://bnsfweb.bnsf.com/fuel/index.html, the site features fuel-related articles and conservation facts.
The site also includes briefings on current initiatives, such as shutting down and isolating locomotives; improving train handling procedures; preventing spills; employing lubrication systems; dispatching techniques; and building locomotive consists.
