It’s a go in Gardner, Kan. BNSF Railway Co. and The Allen Group recently finalized land purchase rights and development agreements for a new logistics park to be built in the town, which is located 25 miles southwest of Kansas City, Mo.

Late last year, BNSF reached an agreement with The Allen Group to develop the park adjacent to the railroad’s mainline and Interstate 35. To be called “Logistics Park - Kansas City,” the development will include a new BNSF intermodal terminal, distribution centers and warehouses.

The Class I currently owns 997 acres of land at the site, with 418 acres set aside for the intermodal facility, which is scheduled to open in 2009. BNSF has granted The Allen Group exclusive rights to purchase the remaining 579 acres to develop distribution and warehouse facilities.

BNSF currently operates two logistics parks: Logistics Park-AllianceTexas near Fort Worth, Texas, and Logistics Park-Chicago in Elwood, Ill.
