Burlington Northern Santa Fe plans to hold its third minority forum Oct. 30-31 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The forum, entitled "Embracing the Possibilities: The Journey Continues," is part of a series of diversity conferences BNSF launched in 2000.

At the event, more than 200 randomly selected employees will have an opportunity to talk with leadership team members to brainstorm ideas on how to make BNSF a more diverse company, and hear experts talk about corporate America's diversity successes.

Some of the forum's topics will include:

• how diversity can help BNSF achieve its strategic initiatives;

• how the railroad is trying to bridge the gap between perception and reality;

• how senior managers are trying to ensure the success of every employee; and

• how employees can take charge and help BNSF improve diversity.

"At the first two conferences, we were successful in identifying issues and perceived barriers that exist for minorities within the company," said Matthew Rose, BNSF chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement, adding that the forums helped the railroad launch initiatives emphasizing workers' personal development and accountability to help break down barriers.
