BNSF honors 74 shippers' haz-mat safety efforts
advertisement
BNSF Railway Co. recently honored 74 shippers with annual product stewardship awards that recognize their efforts to help safely transport hazardous materials in 2007. The recipients include BP Products North America Inc. and Olin Corp. Chlor Alkali Division, which have attained the honor every year since BNSF established the awards in 1997.
The Class I presents the award to shippers that transport a minimum of 500 loaded haz-mat tank cars during a given year without a non-accidental release (those not caused by a derailment or collision). Last year, 64 shippers won the award.
Each of this year's winners has implemented product stewardship ethics under the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® initiative, BNSF said.
