Burlington Northern Santa Fe July 15 bestowed its third annual Load and Ride Solutions Award to Hub Group Inc., J.B. Hunt Transport Inc., Roadway Express Inc., Ford Motor Co. and NYK Line, recognizing the companies' safe and damage-free loading efforts.
As award criteria, BNSF considers a shipper's adherence to the railroad's and Association of American Railroads' loading methods; the number of freight claims filed (excluding claims related to derailments or theft); the ratio of freight claims to total freight charges; a shipper's request for loading assistance from BNSF’s Load and Ride Solutions (LARS) and cooperation with LARS in correcting any unsafe loading practices; and the number of distress incidents and improperly loaded shipments.
"Properly prepared shipments reduce the risk of injury, unnecessary train delays and damage to our customers’ products," said Pat Carter, BNSF assistant vice president, resource protection solutions group, in a prepared statement. "These shippers have demonstrated that they have a high commitment to ensuring a damage-free shipping environment."
