For the fourth-consecutive year, BNSF Railway Co. is ranked on InformationWeek magazine's list of the 500 most technologically innovative companies. The Class I landed at No. 150.
The Class I received the highest ranking among railroads on the list, which recognizes the nation's most innovative information technology users. Norfolk Southern Corp. also made the list.
The magazine honored BNSF for TSS Xpress, a Web-based front end to a Transportation Support System (TSS) mainframe computer the railroad deployed in 1992. TSS Xpress reduces more than 3,400 TSS commands to fewer than 100 Internet menu items.
