Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology magazine recently named BNSF Railway Co. one of the 100 "Best Diversity Companies" for 2008. The Class I has attained the honor for two straight years.

Print and online readers choose U.S. corporations, government agencies and other organizations employing technical workers that they believe are doing "superior work" in diversity, the magazine said. Diversity/Careers tabulates the votes and selects the 100 companies with the highest reader recognition.

"Too often, diversity is defined by traditional terms, such as race, gender, age, religion or culture," said Ed McFalls, BNSF's assistant vice president of human resources and diversity, in a prepared statement. "But at BNSF, we know that it is much more. It's diversity of mind, experience, education, skills and thought."
